Telecommunications Literacy for ESU 10 TECHS Students Telecommunication Literacy: ITEC 150 is an introductory course which provides a basic overview of voice, video, and data communications systems including telephone systems, cellular telephones, satellite communications, the Internet, voice over the Internet, and several others. Who is this course designed for? ESU 10 TECHS Students Students who are considering a career in the information technology fields Students who will eventually need telecommunications services to run a small business in order to evaluate and select from the numerous telecommunications systems currently available to the general public What are the advantages of enrolling in this course? This is a general studies course which will count towards any degree at UNK This course is a requirement in the Telecommunications Management program This course will help you to determine if you have interest in an information technology career such as Telecommunications Management, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Science How and when will this course be delivered? This course will be offered online during the fall semester 2007. You may begin registration April 20th. Registration ends Aug 27th when classes begin. Please indicate your intention to register for this course to John Stritt at jstritt@esu10.org 2. You must be fully admitted to UNK as an EARLY ENTRY student. Complete the admission form online at http://webeasi.unk.edu or call 1-800-KEARNEY to have an admission form sent to you. You have to obtain a letter from your high school counselor and meet all other qualifications 3. Contact the Industrial Technology Department at 308-865-8504 to obtain the course call number and course section number. Pay the admission fee of $45 As a part of the application process, you will create a PIN which you will use to access registration on WebEASI. 4. Register for ITEC 150 online (go to www.unk.edu and click on the webEASI icon) 5. The finance office will bill you for tuition at the College Edge rate. All term fees are waived, however course based fees may apply. 6. Log onto Blackboard when classes begin in August to see the course outline. (blackboard.unk.edu)7. You will need access to a computer with a broadband Internet connection to access Blackboard. What is the „College Edge‰ Plan? "College Edge" provides reduced tuition and a fee waiver for all eligible high school students who enroll for UNK classes. Tuition will be charged at 66% of the normal undergraduate rate (for 2006-07 the amount is $85 per credit hour). You should be currently attending high school or in the summer between junior and senior year. Students who have graduated are not eligible.
