The Build a Computer series which includes installation of the Linux kernal and the loading and testing of open source applications will be presented in a four part series. Introduction to Build A Computer (Part 1) - In part 1, Jordan Clark and Jamie Kramer will be presenting an overview of the project. The overview will include student outcomes as well as what student teams need to bring with them on the computer building day. For schools who are members of the TECHS class, you will follow directions provided in Chapter 46. If your school is not part of the TECHS class, you will follow these steps to acquire the lesson plan and directions to the video:
Linux and Open Source Applications Review (Part 3) - Jordan and Jamie will have a follow up video lesson which will review the process of finding and downloading open source applications. As part of this lesson, Jamie and Jordan will have students review the Linux download process, add and remove open source applications, and then complete an activity based on an application that is downloaded. Student/Teacher Reflection - Following part 3, we will ask you and your students to complete a short reflection of Parts 1 - 3. This reflection will be done online. A post activity assessment will be available for students to test their "BAC" understanding.
